WooCommerce PayPal Payments abilities, governed through the Bridge

An agent can check whether the store's PayPal account is connected, list configured payment methods, and look up a PayPal order's captures, refunds and shipment tracking, all read-only, once WooCommerce and the plugin's ability feature flag are both enabled.

What has to be true first

This plugin needs WooCommerce 10.9 or later and WordPress 6.9 or later, with both WooCommerce and this plugin active. Every ability checks manage_woocommerce, the same capability WooCommerce's own REST controllers use for store-management access.

  • WooCommerce 10.9 or later must be active; on older WooCommerce versions the abilities feature silently does nothing.
  • The woocommerce_paypal_payments_abilities_enabled filter must be set to true; it defaults to false, so a site owner or another plugin has to flip it in code.

The 4 WooCommerce PayPal Payments abilities

Grouped by what each one can change. Every one starts off until you enable it.

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install WooCommerce PayPal Payments and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. WooCommerce PayPal Payments registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from WooCommerce PayPal Payments starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does WooCommerce PayPal Payments work with the Bridge?

Conditionally. The four abilities only reach the core Abilities API through WooCommerce 10.9's ability loader, and that path is itself gated behind a filter that defaults to false, so the Bridge sees nothing until both WooCommerce is new enough and the plugin's own feature flag is switched on.

What has to be true for WooCommerce PayPal Payments's abilities to register?

WooCommerce 10.9 or later must be active; on older WooCommerce versions the abilities feature silently does nothing.. The woocommerce_paypal_payments_abilities_enabled filter must be set to true; it defaults to false, so a site owner or another plugin has to flip it in code..

Does WooCommerce PayPal Payments need anything special to work with the Bridge?

This plugin needs WooCommerce 10.9 or later and WordPress 6.9 or later, with both WooCommerce and this plugin active. Every ability checks manage_woocommerce, the same capability WooCommerce's own REST controllers use for store-management access.
