Agent Abilities for MCP
Free on WordPress.org, no paid tier. 600+ active installs, checked 13 October 2026.
We make zero outbound calls of any kind. No connectors, no telemetry, nothing leaves your site on the plugin’s initiative, which is the specific thing that is easy to state and hard to retrofit. Free with no paid tier, and every call including refusals is written to an audit log in your own database.
Where it loses: Easy MCP AI carries a bigger raw tool count than our 179 and covers external SEO and analytics data that we simply do not have, because getting it would mean making the outbound calls we just said we do not make. If you want that data inside the same plugin, they have built it and we have chosen not to.

WPVibe
70,000+ active installs, 117 ratings (WordPress.org, checked 13 October 2026)
WPVibe optimizes for a fast, low-friction connection. It is a WordPress plugin paired with a cloud connector WPVibe operates, which is how it can offer a roughly thirty second setup with no bridge to install and no endpoint published on your own site. WordPress.org lists SeedProd as its author (checked 28 September 2026), Search Engine Journal covered it in July 2026, and it is the most widely installed MCP-specific plugin here. If getting connected quickly is what you care about, that is a real strength and the numbers say people agree.
Best at: Setup speed, approval prompts before destructive work, theme file editing, no public endpoint on your site, and a far larger install base behind SeedProd.

Royal MCP
10,000+ active installs, 7 ratings (WordPress.org, checked 13 October 2026)
Royal MCP sells reach and operational polish. It documents more AI platforms, including ChatGPT, Gemini, and local models, opens a preconfigured WordPress Playground demo straight from its product page, and keeps a deep library of host-specific troubleshooting guides. It is inbound-only with an explicit no-telemetry stance, so on privacy it is close to us. If breadth of client coverage and support content is what you weigh most, that is its strength.
Best at: More documented clients and platforms, local models, and a deep troubleshooting library.

Enable Abilities for MCP
4,000+ active installs, 12 ratings (WordPress.org, checked 13 October 2026)
Enable Abilities for MCP has grown a long way past the small companion it was when we first wrote this page. As of 2.13.0 it ships 112 abilities across 21 categories, an embedded OAuth 2.1 server that connects claude.ai with nothing but a URL, and a ChatGPT path through dynamic client registration behind a callback allowlist. It shares our off-by-default instinct, it logs every execution under the real user, and on raw integration coverage it reaches further than we do in places. What it still does not do is serve anything by itself.
Best at: A bigger catalog than ours in several integrations, more than six times the installs, and their own OAuth server for claude.ai and ChatGPT.

miniOrange Secure MCP Server
6,000+ active installs, 8 ratings (WordPress.org, checked 13 October 2026)
miniOrange sells identity and access management for a living, and the plugin reads like it. The listing advertises more than 300 tools across content, WooCommerce, Yoast SEO, users, comments, three form plugins and site administration, wrapped in self-hosted OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and role-based ability policies they call an NHI Registry. Above that sits a set of controls we do not attempt at all: human approvals on risky actions, data rules and DLP, prompt-injection detection, behavioral anomaly detection, agent reputation scoring, multisite policy and ready-made policy templates. Their pricing page measures the paid plan against enterprise AI security platforms rather than against other WordPress plugins, which tells you who they are aiming at.
Best at: A much larger advertised catalog, a security feature list well past ours, and ten times the installs.

The official WordPress MCP Adapter
Maintained by the WordPress project. Not a plugin you configure from wp-admin.
The Adapter bridges the WordPress 6.9 Abilities API to MCP and is the foundation several plugins on this page are built on, ours included. On its own it gives you the transport and expects you to supply and govern the abilities, so it suits teams who want to assemble the stack deliberately rather than install one.
Best at: maximum control, no vendor in the chain at all, and the cleanest long-term footing since it is the official project.
