What has to be true first
Needs WordPress 6.9 or later for the Abilities API, and for any write ability the store owner must first enable Downloads > Tools > AI's write setting. Each ability additionally checks its own WordPress capability (mostly edit_shop_payments, manage_shop_discounts, edit_products, view_shop_reports, or manage_shop_settings, with customer abilities using the filterable edd_view_customers_role/edd_edit_customers_role roles).
- Downloads > Tools > AI setting 'abilities_write_enabled' must be turned on before any write ability will act; every write ability still registers and is discoverable, but its permission check fails closed until the store opts in. Read abilities are unaffected.
A note on the count below
25 abilities are registered in the free plugin's fixed Registry class map. The wp.org listing's 29 includes roughly 4 Pro-only abilities added through the edd/abilities/registered filter, which are not present in this free-tier source.

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.
Install Easy Digital Downloads and Agent Abilities for MCP
Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. Easy Digital Downloads registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.
Open the Other plugins screen
In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.
Enable one ability at a time
Every ability from Easy Digital Downloads starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.
Connect as a least-privilege user
Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions
Does Easy Digital Downloads work with the Bridge?
Yes. All 25 free-tier abilities register unconditionally into the core Abilities API from a fixed class registry, each with an explicit readonly/destructive annotation inherited from a shared read or write base class (with three writes overriding to destructive), so the Bridge discovers and can wrap every one of them.
