SureMembers abilities, governed through the Bridge

An agent can read membership overview stats, list memberships and members, inspect a member's grants or a membership's protected content, then create, update, duplicate, grant, revoke, or delete a membership and change what content it protects.

What has to be true first

Needs WordPress 6.6 or later with SureMembers active and its Abilities master toggle on. Every ability's permission_callback checks the single WordPress capability manage_options, so only an administrator-level connected user can call any of them.

  • A master 'Abilities' toggle (on by default) must stay on; turning it off stops every ability in this plugin from registering
  • Each ability also has its own per-ability enable/disable gate in the plugin's settings
  • Two Pro-only analytics abilities (find-expiring-memberships, get-integration-breakdown) exist only in the paid SureMembers Pro add-on and are not present in this free plugin

The 16 SureMembers abilities

Grouped by what each one can change. Every one starts off until you enable it.

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install SureMembers and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. SureMembers registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from SureMembers starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does SureMembers work with the Bridge?

Yes. It registers all 16 of its abilities with wp_register_ability, each carrying an explicit readOnlyHint/destructiveHint/idempotentHint annotation mapped to the core Abilities API's keys, so the Bridge can discover and expose each one once a site admin leaves the master toggle and that ability's own gate on.

What has to be true for SureMembers's abilities to register?

A master 'Abilities' toggle (on by default) must stay on; turning it off stops every ability in this plugin from registering. Each ability also has its own per-ability enable/disable gate in the plugin's settings. Two Pro-only analytics abilities (find-expiring-memberships, get-integration-breakdown) exist only in the paid SureMembers Pro add-on and are not present in this free plugin.

Does SureMembers need anything special to work with the Bridge?

Needs WordPress 6.6 or later with SureMembers active and its Abilities master toggle on. Every ability's permission_callback checks the single WordPress capability manage_options, so only an administrator-level connected user can call any of them.
