What has to be true first

Imagify needs WordPress 6.9 or later and the plugin active. Most abilities check Imagify's own manage capability, while restore-media, bulk-optimize and generate-missing-nextgen check WordPress's manage_options directly.

  • A valid Imagify API key is needed for optimize-media, bulk-optimize and generate-missing-nextgen to actually process images, though they still register without one.
  • update-settings cannot change the API key when it is hard-coded via the IMAGIFY_API_KEY constant.

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install Imagify Image Optimization and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. Imagify Image Optimization registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from Imagify Image Optimization starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does Imagify Image Optimization work with the Bridge?

Yes. All 10 abilities register unconditionally with the core Abilities API when the plugin is active, alongside Imagify's own bundled MCP server, so the Bridge discovers them independently of that server.

What has to be true for Imagify Image Optimization's abilities to register?

A valid Imagify API key is needed for optimize-media, bulk-optimize and generate-missing-nextgen to actually process images, though they still register without one.. update-settings cannot change the API key when it is hard-coded via the IMAGIFY_API_KEY constant..

Does Imagify Image Optimization need anything special to work with the Bridge?

Imagify needs WordPress 6.9 or later and the plugin active. Most abilities check Imagify's own manage capability, while restore-media, bulk-optimize and generate-missing-nextgen check WordPress's manage_options directly.
