An agent can generate a click-to-chat WhatsApp URL and read or update the configured phone number, call-to-action text, and pre-filled message, globally or for a specific post or term.
BetterLinks abilities, governed through the Bridge
An agent can list, create, update and delete short links and their categories or tags, check whether a slug is free, and pull click analytics and audience breakdowns, or delete stored analytics and change plugin settings.

What has to be true first
BetterLinks needs WordPress 6.9 and the plugin active, with no extra toggle required for the abilities themselves to register. Every ability is gated on manage_options, so a connected user needs administrator-level capability to list, read, or change links, categories, tags, analytics or settings.
A note on the count below
Source lists 18 abilities as literal object instantiations in one array inside register_abilities(); easymcp's index lists 14, four short of what the current version registers (check-short-url, get-link-analytics, get-analytics-graph, get-audience).
The 18 BetterLinks abilities
Grouped by what each one can change. Every one starts off until you enable it.

How to switch these on
Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.
Install BetterLinks and Agent Abilities for MCP
Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. BetterLinks registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.
Open the Other plugins screen
In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.
Enable one ability at a time
Every ability from BetterLinks starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.
Connect as a least-privilege user
Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions
Does BetterLinks work with the Bridge?
Yes. BetterLinks registers its 18 abilities unconditionally whenever the Abilities API is present, by the plugin's own comment decoupled from its enable_mcp toggle, so the bridge sees them regardless of whether BetterLinks's own MCP server is turned on.
Do BetterLinks's abilities register automatically?
Yes, unconditionally, once BetterLinks is active. Nothing else has to be configured for the Bridge to discover them.
Does BetterLinks need anything special to work with the Bridge?
BetterLinks needs WordPress 6.9 and the plugin active, with no extra toggle required for the abilities themselves to register. Every ability is gated on manage_options, so a connected user needs administrator-level capability to list, read, or change links, categories, tags, analytics or settings.

NotificationX

Verified from BetterLinks's own free wordpress.org code on 28 September 2026, not from its marketing claims. Not every ability listed here has been run end to end against a live site.
