What has to be true first

Needs WordPress 5.8 or newer (7.0+ for the Abilities API to exist, since the class checks for wp_register_ability before registering) with AI Story Maker active. Every ability's permission_callback requires only edit_posts, so a contributor-level connected user can call any of them.

  • generate-story needs an active plan with available AI-generation credits to actually produce a story, checked inside the callback rather than at registration
  • schedule-stories needs manage_options to configure a user other than the connected one, otherwise it defaults to the current user

A note on the count below

None of the three abilities declare a readonly or destructive annotations array at all, so per the read/write/destructive rule (no annotations defaults to destructive) all three are marked destructive. Separately, all three registrations use the array key 'callback' instead of the Abilities API's actual 'execute_callback' key, which is likely a bug in the plugin's own code, not something this record corrects or assumes works.

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install AI Story Maker and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. AI Story Maker registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from AI Story Maker starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does AI Story Maker work with the Bridge?

Yes. Its three abilities are registered in the core Abilities API with no meta.mcp.public requirement, so the Bridge can discover and wrap them once WordPress 7.0's Abilities API is present.

What has to be true for AI Story Maker's abilities to register?

generate-story needs an active plan with available AI-generation credits to actually produce a story, checked inside the callback rather than at registration. schedule-stories needs manage_options to configure a user other than the connected one, otherwise it defaults to the current user.

Does AI Story Maker need anything special to work with the Bridge?

Needs WordPress 5.8 or newer (7.0+ for the Abilities API to exist, since the class checks for wp_register_ability before registering) with AI Story Maker active. Every ability's permission_callback requires only edit_posts, so a contributor-level connected user can call any of them.

More Content plugins

An agent can discover ACF field groups, custom post types, and custom taxonomies that the site owner has opted into AI access, then list, read, create, update, and delete items of those content types along with their custom field values.
