Governed ability
List block types
aafm/list-block-typesRead only
List block types is a governed ability in Agent Abilities for MCP, a free WordPress plugin that runs an MCP server on your site.
Lists the block types registered on this site (core, theme and plugin blocks, including ACF blocks), not saved reusable blocks; if aafm-get-block-type is enabled, use it for one block's attributes, supports, styles and, for ACF blocks, its field names and an example payload. Requires the edit-posts capability.
How it is governed
The same model as every ability in the plugin, stated for this one.
- Off until you enable it
Like every ability, List block types ships switched off. You turn it on one at a time, and an update never switches on a tool it serves.
- Reads only
It reads data and returns it to your client. Nothing on your site is created, changed, or removed.
- Capability gated
A connection only sees List block types if the user you connected can run it, and the plugin checks that capability again before it executes.
- Every call audited
The call is written to the log in your own database, denials included, with the argument keys and the identifiers it touched, never free-text content.
List block types is one of the 7 governed Blocks abilities. Browse the other Blocks abilities in the catalog.

List the ACF blocks registered by the theme.
Show me every block type from the plugins on this site, with their titles.
These are illustrative example prompts. The agent runs them as the user you connected, checked against that user's capabilities and written to your audit log.

Is this the same as List blocks?
No. List blocks returns your saved reusable blocks (synced patterns). List block types returns the kinds of block registered on the site: core, theme and plugin blocks, ACF blocks included.
